چکیده

Background: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a hepatotropic pathogen that causes significant morbidity and mortality in humans. It an important causative agent of viral hepatitis outbreaks. This study investigates the serological molecular prevalence HEV blood donors attending Central Blood Bank Wad Medani City Gezira State, Sudan.
Methods: The adopted cross-sectional descriptive design. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data concerning demographic information risk factors associated with transmission. All enrolled participants (N = 300) were screened for IgG antibodies using commercial ELISA kits, then strong positive samples 84) selected rescreened IgM RNA by RT PCR. SPSS version 24.0 analysis.
Results: Out 300 male participants, 36.3% (109/300) IgG. However, only one participant positive, while negative. highest rates 42 (44.6%) among age group 31–40 years, 20 (48.8%) those who consumed food from outside, 13 (50%) three four multiple donations, 5 (62.5%) water river source. association occupation being students or farmers detected univariate multivariate analysis (P-value 0.007).
Conclusion: High demonstrated healthy this study. Given possibility transmission transfusion recipients, we recommend routine screening should be banks Sudan.
